Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight 308 Winchester
Another very nice pre-64 Winchester Featherweight and in .308 Winchester. The rifle bears serial # 540900, likely last 1961. Barrel is 22 inches long and the bore is bright and clean, no defects visible. The original wood stock has a LOP of 13 ½ inches. There is a Pachmayr Whiteline recoil pad. The stock has some minor scuffs and handling marks from hunting use and carry afield. All of which could be cleaned up with little effort. Because the gun is a very desirable and has no cracks or chips I’d consider an experienced stock guy to refinish it in the same fashion as originally done by Winchester. Let’s talk metal condition. The bolt handle has some wear from use and the magazine floor plate has some wear around the sharper more defined edges, receiver and barrel retain 95% or better of the original factory finish. This is why I say have the wood redone professionally, it’s worth it. Once again, a nice Pre-64 Winchester that you can be proud to own to either hunt or collect. Hell, I’d be proud to do both.
