For sale, a very nice original Smith & Wesson Model 25-5 revolver chambered in .45ACP. This N-frame revolver from Smith & Wesson was built in 1980 before S&W discontinued the pinned barrel. This revolver has 97 to 98% of the original gloss blue factory finish remaining. There is a slight drag line around the cylinder, a small area of high edge wear at the muzzle on the left side, and a couple of small handling marks visible only under very close inspection. All of the screws appear unmolested on this Model 25-5. The bore is minty and bright in the 4-inch barrel. The rifling has sharp lands and grooves and there are no signs of erosion or pitting. The cylinder bores are also minty and bright. The windage and elevation adjustable target style sights work perfectly and the red insert in the front sight blade is clean and bright. The case hardened target hammer and target trigger still show bright colors and show no signs of wear. The original grips have been replaced with a set of Kim Ahrends "Retro Target Stocks" made of Goncalo Alves wood. They are in excellent shape with no scratches, cracks, or repairs. The action on this Smith & Wesson is exceptional. It is smooth in both single and double action modes of operation and it locks up tight with no wiggle at full lock. The trigger breaks nice and clean with no creep or grittiness. These .45 ACP pistol are unique in that you can use half moon or full moon clips to load it quickly and use the ejector rod to empty it. It was also designed to allow you to drop the cartridges in without moon clips in a pinch and it will still fire, although emptying the brass will require a stick or pen to poke them out. This Model 25-5 is a great target/competition pistol and an excellent home defense weapon, as well as a great investment. These pinned barrel Smith & Wesson double actions continue to appreciate in value every year with premiums paid for high condition, original finish examples like this one.
