Description: SALE PENDING ! **THIS GUN QUALIFIES FOR BUNDLE DISCOUNT PRICING !! * 200.00 PRICE REDUCTION !! This Springfield M1903, 30.06 Ser No. 652226, mfg about 1917. This particular one falls below the 800,000 serial cutoff and was inspected for the receiver issue. This problem was caused by some Springfield receivers that were heat treated too severly and resulted in cracked receivers. A Lt. Julian Hatcher was assigned to inspect all of these 03's thought to be affected. Those that passed inspection were designated w/a one or more punch marks on the flat underside of the receiver. This particular receiver has over six of these punch marks*. This one obviously passed because later on it was rebarreled and the top of the barrel just below the front site is stamped " SA w/flaming Bomb - 42".* The bluing is the oil quench type and is excellent w/no scratches or rubs -it appears original to me. Ther are no arnsenal marks anywhere on the suberb piece. The stock is equally unblemished w/no dents, dings or scratches of anykind. The buttplate is the type 3A w/the checkered dar bluing. The bolt has the darker oil quenchin and has the initial "BF" under the bolt. The muzzle measures 0+ and the throat is 3+ both excellent. The bore is clean w/a distinct twist. The action is smooth and effort- less. This 03 is the nicest that I have seen in a long time. It wouls enhance any collector's library. * Source for info "The Model 1903 Springfield Rifle and it's variations - by Joe Poyer and edited by Ed Furler, jr SOLD Manufacturer: Springfield Model: M-1903 Serial Number: 652226 Caliber Info: 30.06 Condition: NRA - Excellent |
