Description:
This vintage Ruger Model 77 "R" is a nice solid rifle that would be perfect for someone looking for a dependable and accurate hunting rifle. This rifle was manufactured in 1980 and has the sought-after tang safety and nicely figured solid American Walnut stock. This model features a factory gloss blue finish, no sights, a 22" inch barrel, integral scope ring bases in the receiver, and an adjustable trigger. This example has been hunted with and has some minor handling marks and some finish wear in spots, but nothing major that detracts from the overall attractive appearance. The trigger guard and floorplate on this model are made of alloy and have a black finish from the factory rather than the blue finish like on the steel parts. There are some small superficial scratches in this black finish that could be touched up easily with black paint. The bore in the 22" inch barrel is bright and clean. It shows no signs of eroison or pitting, and still has sharp lands and grooves in the rifling. The tang safety works perfectly and locks the bolt closed when engaged. It is a very familiar and intuitive design to hunters who own shotguns with a tang safety as well. The factory checkered American Walnut stock is in great shape. The checkering still looks clean and the stock is free from any cracks or repairs. It has factory installed sling swivel studs, a factory Ruger red recoil pad, and a black pistol grip cap with the Ruger logo on it. The length of pull is 13.75 inches to the end of the pad. This Model 77 comes with a set of factory Ruger 1" inch medium rings already installed. The rings are in excellent shape with all of the threaded parts nice and clean. Everything on this rifle works 100% like the day it left the factory. The internals of this rifle are extremely clean and it appears this rifle was carried a lot more than it was actually shot. The bolt face is really clean and the extractor is still sharp and shows no wear. The .270 Winchester chambering is a great all around caliber for North America. The .270 Winchester cartridge is powerful & versatile enough to take any large game here and at the same time, flat shooting and fast enough to shoot long distances. If you have been looking for a classic rifle to take to the woods or range that is attractive, tough, versatile, and accurate, this Ruger Model 77R rifle would be an great choice without breaking the bank!
