W. W. Marston & Knox Percussion Pistol
Here we present an antique W.W. Marston & Knox Single Shot Percussion Pistol, made circa 1854 in New York. This little pistol would have been intended to have been carried in a pocket or purse in the mid-1800s for self-defense. The gun features a smooth bore and a barrel that begins octagonal and transitions to round about half-way.
The overall condition is fair. It is clear that this little pistol has seen a lot of use and has even been repaired mechanically to keep it going. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear. The walnut stocks show extensive period wear. The trigger moves laterally quite a bit, but the gun still functions. As a result of the trigger movement and the return spring, the hammer will only cock if the trigger is pushed forward manually.
