This rifle was manufactured in 1909 and this grade was called a grade 3 at that time. After 1915 Remington changed the name of this grade to "8C Special". This grade was available in the standard Model 8 straight grip or an semi-pistol grip as this rifle sports. This one has an exceptional grade of walnut that has the appearance of even a higher grade of wood than usual, Possibly an upgrade. Another reason that the wood may be an upgrade is because this grade did not come with a grip cap as this one does. The grip cap was a special order item on this grade rifle. The wood appears to to have an old expert refinish somewhere along the way. An extremely profession well done job. The overall condition is excellent for a 110 year old gun. My photos leave a little to be desired but take a careful look for condition. The front sight is a Marbles #3 which is a flip up model with both a fine and a course bead available at a touch. Bore is very good with sharp lands. The tang peep and the open flip up rear sight are standard issue on this grade rifle. 32 Remington was not a common cartridge in the higher grade Model 8. Will ship in the lower 48 states for $45.00.. SOLD |
