Description:
L.C. Smith Monogram 20 Gauge Side-by-Side
RARE!, UNTOUCHED 98% FACTORY GUN, 1 OF 26 MADE

General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1913, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 6oz, SxS
Serial Number: 7130E

In the world of vintage American double shotguns, the L.C. Smith Monogram is an icon representing the finest in gunmaking skills and art.  L.C. Smith was the only successful American sidelock gun, with strong and simple locks, beautifully sculpted frames, and the finest craftsmanship in the heyday of the American double gun.  From 1892-1945 there were only 306 Monogram Elsies made in all gauges, only 51 in 20ga. and only 26 twenty-gauge guns with the desirable 30” barrels.  THESE ARE TRULY RARE AMERICAN SHOTGUNS, REPRESENTING THE FINEST IN ART, FORM, AND FUNCTION.  This fine Monogram, sn7130E made in 1913, is even more rare as it is completely factory original finishes throughout, including the wood finishes.  With 95% case color, 98% blue, 95% wood finish, mirror bores, beautiful English walnut stock terminating with the factory buttplate, there are no drawbacks with this gun.  The mechanics are perfect, with the 30” Sir Joseph Whitworth Steel barrels tight as new on hinge pin and breech face, single selective trigger that functions flawlessly, strong well-timed ejectors, and positive safety…even the chambers remain at the factory 2 ½” length.  Chokes are F/F and factory original as well.  I get to see a lot of fine shotguns in my work, and in the world of truly collectible, rare, highly desirable American side x sides it is increasingly rare to find a truly unmolested, factory original gun.  These are the guns that will always bring premium prices and always have willing buyers.  This Monogram 20 bore might be the finest in existence.  To be sure, the gun has been carried afield, as it has the usual light handling marks in the wood and blueing, and there is some wear on the barrels around the forend area, so it will be at home with you in the field pursuing upland game, doves, pigeons, crows, waterfowl, or even the elusive sporting clays targets at your local club.  L.C. Smith guns are coming on strong in the world of collector/shooters and the value has been climbing steadily for special guns.  This is a true investment quality gun, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of the best available.  Thanks for looking and don’t miss out on this one!
