Fine First Model Safety Automatic Double Action
Here we present an antique Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works First Model Safety Automatic Double Action Revolver in .32 S&W, made circa 1898 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871. The company continued to operate until 1993. This revolver was designed to be small and concealable for self-defense.
This revolver is chambered for 5 shots of .32 S&W. The action works in both double and single action. The top of the barrel is marked “IVER JOHNSON ARMS & CYCLE WORKS/FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A.” The grip panels feature an owl on each side.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is 95%. Blue finish on the trigger guard is virtually complete. Nice case colors. The markings are clear and legible. The original hard rubber grips are in good shape, with just a chip off the bottom of the left panel. The bore is sharp and in good condition. The action is excellent. Here is a sharp little revolver from the late-19th Century!
