Description:
This is as nice of a 1st production run M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine as we have ever had.  M1A1 Paratrooper Carbines are one of the most sought-after WW2 U.S. Military firearms there is.  They were issued to the elite Airborne troops during WW2 and are often featured in modern movies about the war.  Their folding stock design was unique, and made an already visually appealing weapon even cooler looking.  While the standard M1 Carbine production topped out in the millions, the M1A1 had a relatively small production run of approximately 140,000 guns.  There were roughly 70,000 made in each of the two production runs.  This "1st run" high wood stock Inland with a "Fat Boy" pistol grip is in excellent condition overall and has NOT been rebuilt.  According to Larsen's book "Comprehensive M1 Carbine Guide", every single part is 100% correct and original except for the firing pin in this M1A1.  As you can see in the pictures, the original parkerizing rates a conservative 95 to 96%, with the only real finish wear showing in the op rod slot on the receiver and on the op rod handle itself.  The rest of the parkerized parts show some very minor handling marks, but still have a very clean appearance.  Both the front and rear sights show a matching parkerized finish and neither show any evidence of ever being changed.  The original blued bolt also still looks great.  It shows some wear on the lug and at high edge at the rear from being worked; with the rest of the bolt still showing a clean bright blue.  The bore in the original Inland/General Motors 9-43 dated barrel is like-new.  It is minty and bright with strong rifling with no pitting or erosion.  The original "high wood" stock itself is also in excellent shape.  It has not been reworked or sanded and still shows that luster that only clean original stocks show.  It is completely free of cracks, repairs, or alterations and has the proper internal "IO" stamp in front of the magazine well as well as the "Circle P" at the back of the stock above the pistol grip.  The stock and handguard match nicely and both pieces show matching dents from the buttplate when folded.  The front of the stock only shows compression marks from the "Type 1" barrel band that is installed.  The original "Fat Boy" pistol grip is nice and tight to the stock, and both the "IO"  stamp and the U.S. Ordnance Wheel cartouche are visible on the bottom of the grip with the stock folded.  All of the metal parts to this stock appear to be original and in excellent condition.  The original parkerizing looks great and the hardware is all properly tight to the wood.  The original leather cheek pad is in great shape with no tears and is secured tightly to the frame with the original brass rivets.  The leather has not been over-stretched and still holds the "DI" marked oiler securely.  The spring pressure is still good on the original folding buttplate and there is no slop between the two parts.  This M1A1 Inland comes with an original G.I. sling, 3 original magazines (2-IA marked, 1-AI marked), and a original "B.B.S. Co. 1943" magazine pouch that fits on the folding stock over the cheek pad.  This is a spectacular original Inland Paratrooper Carbine that would be a "centerpiece" addition to any military collection.  It would be VERY hard to find one that is original and in better condition than this one!
