L C Smith Field Grade 16 gauge SxS Shotgun. Circa 1939 this is a completely original LC with 28” solid rib barrels choked Mod/Full and measure .013” & .029” with mirror perfect bores. Pistol grip stock measures 14 ¼” LOP over the factory butt plate; 1 ½” DAC & 2 ½” DAH with neutral cast. Mechanically very solid and tight. Double triggers, automatic safety and perfectly timed ejectors. When the action is closed the top lever is still noticeably right of center. All finishes appear original except perhaps there was a coat of ‘oil’ applied to the butt stock at some time. There are a few, typical L C Smith, fine wood fractures at the ends of the locks and at the rear of the top tang, but otherwise 95% wood. The splinter forearm is 95%. The original rust blued barrels have a few spots of surface rust. The frame shows faded case colors all over, the trigger guard blue is 90%. Really a nice Elsie field gun. Weighs 6 lbs. 6 oz.
