Description:
Presented here for your consideration is a really fine Standard Model 1873 Sporting Rifle with 24" octagon barrel, and crescent butt plate. Caliber is .44 WCF or .44-40., and it has an early Lyman Tang Sight. Overall condition is outstanding with with 85-90% original receiver blue; a superb collectible piece. Barrel and magazine tube retain 90% original blue. Good case colors present on hammer, fading to silver on lever & butt plate. Screws are excellent overall. Bore is excellent, as close to mint as you can get, bright and shiny with sharp rifling; obviously this Winchester was not fired often. The wood is untouched with perfect wood to metal fit, and lots of original varnish. Serial No. in the 288XXX range, and was shipped from the factory in 1889 per a Cody letter which is included. A super collectible Winchester.
