Presented for you today is a Colt Model 1911 Government in .45 ACP. Carrying serial number C20406, this semi-automatic hand gun was built in 1915 and sold to the Argentine government.
In 1915, the Argentine government purchased 1,000 of this pistols, consecutively serial numbered in Colt’s regular serial range from C20001 to C1000, also marked with Argentine numbers from 1 to 1,000 on top of the slide. This pistols became known as the “Modelo 1916.” They were shipped to the London Armoury Company in England for reshipment to Argentina.
This 1911’s metal condition is fair, and appears to have been refinished at some time by a third party. Bore is good, and the checkered wood grips’ condition is good.
