SOLD A beautiful Sailors or Seamans folding knife made by the famous English cutlery firm of Joseph Allen & Son's Sheffield. The blade has the NON XLL mark with the Sheffield address which dates it to the early or mid 1880's. This is a super high quality folder from this firm...1st cut stag scales with the most beautiful grain, color and patina...straight marlin spike which is rarely seen. The springs are so strong this knife is as good as the day it was made. The original copper pinned (swivel bale) lanyard remains in excellent condition. The sheepsfoot blade measures 3 1/2 inches and remains razor sharp. The marlin spike measures 3 1/4 inches with its original undamaged point. The stag scales are wonderful with no cracks or repais of any kind. A great Sailors knife by one of the best known English cutler's of the 1880's. A better example would be hard to find.
