Description:
Lawn & Alder double rifle, .450/400 3 ¼”.  Classic, beautiful dangerous game double rifle made by the venerable London gun maker, Lawn & Alder.  This is a boxlock action with double triggers, non-automatic safety, extractors and third fastener.  The 26 5/8” barrels have mint, perfect bores; topped with a quarter rib holding one fixed and two folding rear sights regulated for 100, 200 and 300 yards.  The font sight is a fine brass bead which can be changed if desired.  The frame, floorplate, top tang, opening lever, grip cap and trigger guard are covered in a fine floral and scroll engraving pattern.  The stock and forearm were cut from a finely figured, dense piece of walnut.  The stock has a raised, shadow line cheek piece and has a 14 ¾” LOP over a 1” Pachmayr presentation decelerator recoil pad.  The forearm has an Anson style release.  The gun is “on face” and mechanically excellent from all aspects.  98% rust blued barrels; frame finish has a greyed patina with some light “frosting” on the right side.  The floor plate and trigger guard were reblued at sometime and retain 99% finish.  Regulated for 400 grain bullets it shoots .411 Woodleighs with 80 grains of 4831 and Federal 215 primers.  Weighs 10 lbs. 5 oz. Comes in a leather take-down luggage case with dies, brass and some ammo.
