Identical model shown on page 204, "Webley Revolvers," by Bruce & Reinhart. Other than that one shown in the book I have never seen another one. Retains most finish turning to brown patina. Slight roughness to surface in places Functions fine in both single and double action. Bore shows most rifling with slight roughness. The cylinder has been slightly shaved to accept .45 acp ammo in half or full-moon clips. The grips are very nice with no cracks or chips. Webley records indicate that this revolver was sold to the large retail firm of William Powell & Son, Carrs Lane, Birmingham, England. They, in turn, sold it to Major M.B. Bovill on January 10, 1915 (copy of record included in sale). MALCOLM BARCLAY BOVILL was born in 1868 to John Edward Bovill, Sondes Place, Dorking, England. He was educated at Harrow School, one of the finest, independent schools in England. Graduates include eight former Prime Ministers and two Kings. Military records of his service indicate that he had a long and successful career as a CAVALRY OFFICER IN BOTH THE BOER WAR AND WORLD WAR I. He was promoted to Lieutenant in the 10th BATTALION, THE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY, on October 2, 1900 while engaged in the war in S. Africa. On October 2, 1914, at the beginning of World War I he appears as Temp. Major in the SURRY (QUEEN MARY'S REGIMENT) YEOMANRY (copies included in sale). Can be shipped to FFL Dealer or C&R holder.
