Description:
Light carbine for mountain hunting in the Tyrolean Alps.
24 ½” barrel or 62.5 cm in length
Tapered octagon with top flat being matted against glare
Single shot with double set triggers
Typical Germanic schutzen trigger guard
Stock is walnut with checkering 
Length of pull is 13”

Back action lock, engraved, with Leithner stamped on the face
Engraving on breech block, trigger bar, and barrel release lever
Two leaf barrel sight with an additional flip up tang sight for distance shooting
Top flat of barrel is marked in gold leaf script “Leithner in Ischl”
Additional gold leaf bands around face of breech
German silver chamois is inlet into the cheek piece appears to be part of the coat of arms of Bad Ischl, Austria or related to Franz Joseph
Rifle has a very shootable bore and is quite accurate...See target photo

NOTE:
Wolfgang Leithner is documented as imperial and royal court gunsmith in Bad Ischl (Austria) from 1850-1880. The rifle is contemporary to the reign of the House of Habsburgs and Franz Joseph. Bad Ischl was a hunting retreat and summer residence for Franz Joseph and Empress Elizabeth.
Since this is a cartridge rifle, the carbine will likely date post 1875 or so?
