This Experimental Prototype Colt Police Positive, serial number 8914LW, was manufactured in 1952 and is chambered in .32 Colt Police. The gun is fitted with a 3 inch barrel, which was shortened by the factory, and is built on a shortened/smaller gripped anodized aluminum alloy frame fitted with oil-finished walnut grips which fit the profile of the shortened frame. Per the Colt Factory letter, which comes with the gun and is dated December 18, 2008, this gun came from the Colt Factory Firearms Collection and was sold to Greg Martin s on October 16, 2008. It is in excellent original condition, retaining 97-98% of its original finishes, with minor thinning and chipping on the sharp edges of the barrel, cylinder and frame. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, and the action functions perfectly, with a tight lock-up. The unusual grips retain all of their original finish, with only a few minor handling marks. A very unusual piece, you will not come across a prototype Colt Police Positive like this again. Good to ship to a C&R.
