BEAUTIFUL SAVAGE 99
For those familiar with the Savage 99s we generally think of bolt-action type accuracy in a wee-made lightning-fast lever rifle. This example is true to form and is one of the last of the really great 99s produced. It retains the nice hand-cut checkering, jewelled bolt, and fine finish of both walnut and steel. Everything about this rifle from the front sight to the steel buttplate is bone stock, and is not monkeyed with in any way - other than for the addition of the Herters Gripcap Compass - which is also in brand new condition.
While this example features the original spool magazine and lever lock/safety, it’s also drilled and tapped for scope mounts and is chambered for the .308 Winchester. I don’t like to quote percentages of finish, as that can be debatable, however, this rifle is like brand new and is clean, clean, clean, almost to the point of one expecting to find a hang tag on it (sorry, don’t have it). This rifle is a perfect example of Savage craftsmanship at its very best and would be a wonderful addition to any Savage 99 collection.
