Description:
Nice honest 1856 vintage Third Model Colt 1851 Navy with period holster. The 6-shot .36 caliber revolver is fitted with a 7 1/2 inch octagon barrel, small round trigger guard, dove-tailed front sight, one-piece walnut grips, blue finished metal with color case-hardened frame, loading lever and hammer, and silver plated brass trigger guard and back-strap. This gun has lost all of its original finishes, having turned a silver grey patina. The grips retain 60% of their original varnish and the trigger guard retains 20% of its original silver plate. It is all numbers matching, frame to cylinder, trigger guard, back-strap, cylinder pin, loading lever, and wedge. The gun has generally nice un-molested screws and the bore is shootable, with visible rifling, but has some corrosion damage. The action functions well, but is loose. The holster is in very good original condition, only major issue is stitching separation where the lower portion of the belt loop attaches to the holster. Good looking pre-Civil War rig.
