GORGEOUS Greek Antique Miquelet FLINTLOCK Pistol
Elaborate & Beautiful Greek/Balkan from the Early 1800s
Here we present an exquisite antique Greek Miquelet Pistol, made circa the early 1800s. This distinctive flintlock pistol would have likely served during the Greek War of Independence from the Ottoman Empire from 1821 to 1832. These pistols are utterly unique to this part of the world having long, slender stocks covered with metal panels covered in elaborately decorative patterns. The pommel is somewhat pointed and could have been used as a bludgeoning weapon after the single shot was expended. These pistols have tons of character and readily show the influences of both Europe to the West and Asia to the East.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a nice, even patina. The designs and engravings are clear. The bore is smooth and in very nice shape. The action is strong. Here is a beautiful piece of Greek history!
