REMINGTON "BEALS PATENT" ARMY  Single Action .44 CALIBER REVOLVER. Comes with old letter of provenance, (found in barrel),  that states it was owned by "PRIVATE WILLIAM PENCE" POSTMASTER , CO.K., 7TH VIRGINIA CAVALRY.Manufactured 1861 to 1862, one of  only approx.  1900 made. . Has a 8 inch octagon barrel with a good bore. Metal is all even brown patina. The un-cleaned brass triggerguard is a pleasing mustard color. I can find no inspector markings so, this was one that was purchased on open market. According to "Flayderman's" approx. 50% were purchased on open market.   Serial #497 is marked on frame and barrel and Trigger guard . Very good grips with small losses at lower front of both panels.
