Description:
Schuetzen Percussion target rifle by Norbert Wesle, Milwaukee, WI, .40 caliber, ½ stock, double set triggers, false muzzle with bullet starter machined for the conical bullet, original ramrod, original rear peep sight and hooded post front sight, drilled for included palm rest; weight 15.5 pounds, hex barrel 1-1/4” x 29-7/8”, overall length 48”; bore and rifling appear in very good condition viewed from the muzzle. N. Wesle stamped on lock plate, N. Wesle, Milwaukee stamped on top of barrel, number 122 stamped on top of breech plug and false muzzle, number 11 stamped on muzzle end of barrel. All loading tools, bullet mold for Picket bullet, accoutrements and etc will be included in the walnut shooting box. Metal condition NMLRA very good. Stock has original finish, an old brass plate wrist repair on right side, an open crack between the escutcheon plate and end cap on the left side and minor checks in stock as seen in photos. Norbert Wesle lived from 1815 to 1878, made guns from 1850 to 1878, sons Herman and August were in business with him. Wesle was noted for shooting 25 bullseyes at the 1870 Cincinnati Schutzenfest.

Note: I do not know if this rifle is safe to shoot. It must be inspected by a competent gunsmith before shooting it.
 
I will drive 4 hours to meet for a personal inspection or shipping and insurance will be $100.00. The rifle will be shipped via UPS in a foam padded case inside of a cardboard box. The wood shooting box with accoutrements will be packaged and shipped with the rifle. The rifle will be marked as package #1 and the wooden shooting box as package #2.
