BOYER DATED 1878. 56” o/a with .50 cal. deeply rifled 40” heavy octagon barrel stamped on the top flat “D. BOYER 1878”. Right side of the barrel stamped at the right breech behind the bolster “MOHN” and just forward of that “H.W. DEEDS/ READING, PA.”. Engraved lock stamped “H. ELWELL/WARRANTED”. Double set triggers. Full length cherry stock with platform bench rest forend. Brass mounts. Brass tipped hickory rod. All original in fine plus condition. 50-60% thin brown barrel finish. Retains nearly all the stock finish. Lock and triggers in perfect working order and excellent plus bore with very crisp rifling. David Boyer Jr. worked in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania in the 1870’s and 1880’s. Henry Deeds was a well known barrel maker from Lancaster County. Weighs 16 pounds. SOLD Antique: Yes |
