Although the pistol is not marked except for several proof marks the appearance and unique style is identified as one matching a similar pistol marked by Blanch. The gun contains two Birmingham proof marks on the barrel. John A. Blanch was a quality gun maker in London from about 1809 to 1848. This gun is about .67 caliber and is a smooth bore. The octogon barrel is about 4 1/2inches long. The ramrod is the captured style but the gun is missing the part that holds the ramrod to the gun. The barrel and, lock, hammer and guard appear to be nicked. The gun is tight and the action holds in both half cocked and full cocked position.
