General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1998, 20 Gauge, 6lb 7oz, Side-by-Side Serial Number: 470015 In 1998 Steve Lamboy resurrected the Ithaca NID double shotgun under the banner name “Ithaca Classic Doubles”. From my understanding, Mr. Lamboy had the rights to the patents and design of the original Ithaca guns and faithfully reproduced the guns as “reproductions” using modern machining technologies and materials. Some of the work was contracted through an Italian gunmaker. The guns were faithful to the original Ithaca NID in engraving and mechanics and the NID design was brutishly strong and reliable. Unfortunately, Mr. Lamboy’s company did not survive and the Ithaca Classic Double production ceased around 2003. There were many guns in the production line at the time and those guns were completed and imported by various prominent gun dealers. This is one of those guns completed at a later date. These are very well made guns; hand engraved and hand checkered to perfection. They represent the best bargain on a fine American designed double available today, in my humble opinion.
