Description:
This Winchester 1866 is in good contition. It is original other than the silver/pewter plug in the buttstock and the initials lightly carved into the buttstock on the left side. The buttplate serial number matches the rifle. The action locks up tight with minimal play in the lever. The bore is in excellent condition for the age, and is bright and has strong rifling with very minimal freckling. The screw heads do have wear from being removed. The finish and wood condition is as to be expected on a rifle this age. the foregrip has a 1" crack in front of the barrel band. Overall this Winchester 1866 is a nice example and looks to be in firing condition if the ammunition was readily available. It was manufactured in 1870, making it a Third Model.
