Description: Early 7 1/2lb gun, possibly a trap gun, with pushbutton forend, tricky barrel release, and adjustable sears. Gun has been well used but not abused. Wood is sound with very good finish, checkering worn, forend has old repaired crack. Not much drop for a gun of this vintage, 1.5" and 2.2", LOP is 13.5" through original "fat" Lefever bakelite buttplate, normal grip cap. Action has very little pitting and sharp engraving (scroll with flying duck on either side), retaining a lot of finish although the colors have gone dark. Sideplate retaining screw and trigger plate screw have wide slots. Top tang screws are good. Damascus bbls are on face, showing good pattern with some external pitting near muzzles, chambered 2 3/4"x30" R 736/722 (Mod) and L 736/695 (F), bores bright with some scattered pitting near chambers esp R. Ribs are sound, top rib has twin beads. Strong (recent) charcoal blue on trigger bow. A fine collectable vintage shooter as is, bbls would benefit from a rebrown (you SOLD |
