Description:
SOLD ** Heym Model SR20G  .375 H&H Magnum, Bolt Action Mauser, Mint Condition, 25” bl, with 100% original blue and wood, factory sights. Beautiful, uncarried, figured French walnut Safari style with crisp hand-checkering.

Why this rifle is special: It’s an improved Mauser as is the pre-64 Model 70. But this one is a perfect size action for the .375 H&H cartridge and in that, it is rare.  Nearly all .375s are either standard Mauser length actions which are a bit undersized (the pre-64 had to have its throat opened with receiver strength reduced) or they are the very heavy double square bridge magnum Mauser actions like the CZ550 and most customs. This SR20G action was fashioned specifically for the .375, making it the strongest lightest version on the market. If you only have one .375, this is the one and the scope system and scope are ideal for the big bears and moose here, and for Africa where the .375 is the required minimum caliber. And like all Heym rifles, this one is a tack-driver with 300 grain bullets.

Metal Work: Friedrich Wilhelm Heym, Gleichamberg, Germany, established 1865, built this high-end version of their own improved Mauser 98 bolt action.  All metal work is high gloss royal blue like Colt’s Python, except for the stainless steel bolt handle which is checkered on two panels for easy grasp and aesthetics. Bottom metal is all steel, with its highly polished floor plate with center bow release and the trigger guard is nicely tapered.  Trigger is serrated. The breech bolt sleeve is Heym’s proprietary shape with red dot for fire and white dot for safe for the two position positive sliding safety.  The bolt release is an improved small serrated button that just presses down into the stock. The barrel’s furniture include a rear island sight with single leaf, a barrel mounted front sling swivel, and a front sight ramp with bead and removable knurled sight cover. The crown is capped for a muzzle brake should the owner ever want one. A blued steel crossbolt has been added to prevent stock splitting for the .375 recoil.

The Stock: The French walnut stock has a beautiful dramatic European stock shape, with its Monte Carlo comb and fully formed cheek piece for the right hand shooter, a full deer-foot pistol grip shape with palm swell for the right hand, which balances well with the long forearm which ends in a graceful Schnabel forend tip.  Both the pistol grip cap and the forearm tip are contrasting rosewood.  The pistol grip cap is inlaid with a faux ivory diamond shape and the stock checkering patterns are nice 2-panel shapes with combinations of double and single borders – hand checkered and enough to serve their purpose. The wood color tone is rich with fancy figure in the butt where you want it so as not to compromise stock strength.
The stock is also fitted with a rear sling swivel and an 3/4” Decelerator dark brown recoil pad yielding an LOP of 14 ¼”.  Weight is 7 lb 14 oz without scope and 9 lb 11 oz. with scope and rings.

Inscriptions: On the left side of the barrel under the rear sight: “MOD. SR20G CAL. 375 H&H Mag” with the serial number stamped on the chamber of the barrel and again on the left side of the front receiver ring. On the left receiver wall, “FRIEDRICH WILH. HEYM.” On the right front receiver ring, “MADE IN GERMANY”  with the distributor information on the right side of the barrel chamber. On the top of the barrel just forward of the front sight: “Krupp Special Laufstahl” for Krupp Special Steel.

Scope System: The scope is Nikon’s illuminated M300 1.5-6x24 mm, a perfect match for this caliber. With Nikon’s great lenses known world-over for clarity, its 30mm tube, and illuminated red dot, is an amazing scope for the worst light conditions.  The scope is professionally mounted in the highest-quality German EAW Quick Detachable 30mm swivel steel rings, a professional hunter setup for this beautiful dangerous game gun giving the hunter a quick choice of extreme accurate glass shooting or a speedy change to fast-aligning open sights.

The 37th Edition of the Blue Book shows the basic SR 20 valued at $1,425 in 98% condition with an add-on of $1,140 for .375 H&H Mag  (Mod SR 20 G), making a total of $ 2,565.  Add $425 for the German EAR QD 30mm swivel steel rings, and $900 for the scope, would bring the Grand Total to $3,890.00

Priced to move, this near new gun is priced here at $2,650.
