Remington New Model Police Revolver Single Action, .36 caliber percussion, 5 shot, with 5 1/2" octagon barrel marked: PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858, E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A. NEW MODEL The New Model "POLICE REVOLVER" is smaller than the New Model NAVY REVOLVER and smaller than the New Model BELT REVOLVER Manufactured from 1865 to 1873. Production was about 18,000 . The Navy .36 and screws enters from the left side of the frame, the POLICE enter from the right side. Bore is shinny bright with no corrosion, Mechanically perfect, Original Grips show strong patches of original varnish but do have minor a chip on front edge of the butt, no cracks. Under the loading lever is serial #341. On the percussion cylinder what I believe to be #41 and on the grip frame #341. Metal surface is a grayish patina with the left side showing some very light modeled surface pitting, the right side is smooth. The brass trigger guard has a "K" inspectors make on the left side. Included is an antique holster that fit this revolver perfectly. Of all the percussion Remington NEW MODELS this model was most often converted to rimfire. To find one in percussion with the 5 1/2 inch barrel is rare. This is an ANTIQUE and can be shipped directly to you in the USA or INTERNATIONALLY.
