For sale, a beautiful post war Walther P-38 pistol with a factory high polish blue finish and an extra like-new factory magazine. These post war P-38s were nearly identical to their wartime production predecessors except for the lightweight frames. WW2 production P-38s had steel frames, whereas this model has a very lightweight alloy frame. This Walther P-38 is serial number 22973E, and was manufactured in 1966 in Walther's factory located in West Germany. Unlike most post war P-38 pistols you will see, it came from the factory with a beautiful high polish gloss blue finish. This finish option made it quite a bit more expensive than a standard model, and as a result was a low production variation. This pistol is in great shape overall and everything works 100% like the day it left the factory. The gloss blue finish shows some very minor high edge wear under close examination but rates a solid 97%. This high edge wear can be seen in the close-up pictures and is mainly limited to the left side at the muzzle, and the left leading edge of the slide. The bore in this pistol is minty. It is bright and clean with sharp rifling, and there is zero pitting or erosion. The alloy frame has a factory black finish which is in excellent condition as well. The black finish is still glossy and clean, with only some tiny spots along the edge of the trigger guard showing any handling marks. The front grip strap is pristine and free from scratches or thinning of the factory finish. The original checkered black plastic grips are in excellent condition overall. They are free from cracks or repairs, and the checkering is still sharp and clean. There are some very minor handling marks on them, but nothing that takes away from their overall attractive and clean appearance. This P-38 comes with the original gloss blue factory magazine(in the gun), as well as an extra matte-finished factory magazine. Both mags are in excellent shape and appear to function perfectly with proper spring pressure. This Walther P-38 has apparently spent most of it's existence in storage and has been fired very little. As you can see in the exterior pictures, it does not show any wear from firing on the exterior of the barrel block. The interior of this pistol matches the exterior. The internal parts show very little evidence of use and there is no powder residue present. These high polish finish guns are quite scarce, and have also proven to be great investments. If you have been looking for a really nice post war P-38 to add to your collection that will also turn heads at the shooting range, this pistol would be an excellent choice.
