Description:
This Original holster was handmade for Civil War or Gold Rush era 1849 Colt pocket model with a 4 inch barrel. Made from medium weight leather and form fit to the Colt as was the practice of the day. The belt loop is sewn and riveted in place and would accept a 2 1/2 inch belt. Made to be worn on the right hip. It has a safety strap that is sewn on and fasten closed with an original stippled metal button. The leather is soft and flexible. The seam that holds the holster together is hand sewn and has a few loose stitches, but the seam has not separated. An example of a very early belt holster for a small Colt. Holsters like this is extremely rare and almost never seen. It has tons of character and reminds me of something Josey Wales might have used. This is the only one I have ever owned. The revolver is not included.
