Description:
We are offering for sale a 12 ga. Sidelock New Aubrey  antique S/S Shotgun.  These shotguns were made by the Meriden  Firearms  Company  of  Meriden, CT.  This gun is marked with the makers name and pat July 9, 1907 on the top rib.   The Meriden  Firearms  Co.  formed in 1906 was in business until 1918.  They sold shotguns to Sears and other merchants of the period.   Some of the engraving on their guns was done by former Parker  Shotgun  Engravers.
This gun was made is 1912 is Serial #49XXX.   Shotgun has 32” barrels and 2 ¾” chambers choked full,   full, and the barrels are twist marked T and WTE.  The barrels “ring” and the bore show some pitting at the breeches and light pitting at mid length and muzzle.  Barrel thickness at the muzzles are .069 Left and .078 Right.  This shows good thick barrels.
Stock length is 13 7/8” to the original butt plate. Drop is 1 3/8" wrist and 2 ½” at the heel of the stock.  Forearm and wrist have great checkering with NO dents or cracks.  There is a ¾ x ¼” chip out of the butt plate on the right side.
The side locks retain virtually all their case color and there are stylized retrievers  on  both locks.  The receiver has about 50% of its color case.  Barrels show very nice twist with some minor scaling at the breech on the right side and little on the left.  See photos.  Shotgun has all matching serial numbers,. Lever is right of center and it locks up tight.
Overall this shotgun is in very good condition for its age.   It is a Nice Aubrey shotgun that should be taken out hunting with some light loads  like (RST’s).
