GERMAN Proofed ANTIQUE Folding Trigger PINFIRE Revolver
Pocket Sized European Self-Defense Revolver
Here we present an antique German Proofed Folding Trigger Pinfire Pocket Revolver, made circa the 1870s in Germany. It was made for pocket carry by 19th Century armed citizens. The pinfire cartridge was arguably the earliest successful self-contained metallic cartridge in history, invented by Casimir Lefaucheux circa 1828. This unique cartridge had a built-in firing pin that protruded from the side of the case and the cylinder of the revolver to be smashed by the hammer. These were widely adopted over Europe and copied by both licensed and unlicensed makers.
This revolver features the German “Crown/U” proof mark.
The overall condition is good. The original nickel finish is about 60%. The markings are clear. The original hard rubber grips show some wear, with a little chipping on the right panel, but are otherwise solid. The bore is smooth. The action is functional, but the trigger return spring could use repair to return it to former glory.
