Description:

VERY FINE c&r DWM 1891 Mauser Rifle in 7.65x53mm

Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891 by DWM Berlin from 1899

Here we present an Argentine Contract Mauser Model 1891 Rifle, made in 1899 in Berlin, Germany, by DWM. The Modelo Argentino 1891 came about as Belgium adopted the Model 1889 in 7.65x53mm, followed by Turkey with their Model 1890 in the same caliber with slight differences. Liking this variant, the Argentines decided to go with a variant similar to Turkey’s. To many, these models represent some of the best quality production Mauser rifles ever made. Craftsmanship, attention to detail, the fit and finish were superb. These rifles were exported from Argentina during a period in which all the original crests on the top of the receivers were required to be ground off. Otherwise, the receiver retains all other of its numerous original markings.

The left side of the receiver is marked “MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891/DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN/BERLIN”. Various proof and acceptance markings abound including monogramed “MB”, Phrygian cap, and handshake symbols. The rear sight is graduated out to 2000 meters.

The overall condition is very fine. The original blue finish is 95% with the bolt left in the white. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match on the ramrod, bolt, barrel, receiver, stock and magazine. The stock is overall smooth with nice grain. There are some handling marks throughout and especially along the right side of the butt plate and a marking has been scrubbed. The bore has sharp rifling and is clean. The action is excellent. This rifle is a fantastic shooter and a handsome addition to your collection.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 29 inches.

Caliber: 7.65x53mm Mauser (Belgian, Argentine)
