Description:
A well preserved high grade example of Clabrough's work. Very low SN 63. Uncut 32" x 2 3/4" "London Laminated Steel" barrels, R737/701 (Full), L 735/703 (Full) showing faint evidence of dent removal nr. muzzle. Originally proofed at 13B 15M both sides, indicating honing to remove (most) pitting in bores. Flats and bottom rib both stamped "W F" with a number on the bottom rib that could be an inventory number. Possibly Wells Fargo, although WF guns are normally marked WF&Co. Tight action, well engraved with very little pitting and retaining some color behind the hammers. Birds on trigger bow. Wood is in good condition, checkering strong and matching. Spurred buttplate with game scene. 14.25" x 2" x 2 3/4" with almost no cast. Ebony tip has been replaced with resin. Hammer retaining screws match but are not original. Glue repair to upper tang area, almost invisible. Love to learn the full history of this very early gun.
