Description:
Serial #219596, 38 WCF, 26" octagon barrel 2" longer than standard with a very good plus bore that shows some very light frosting in the grooves. The frame retains perhaps 15% original blue with the balance being a gray patina with a few light scratches, a couple spots of light freckling and small light oxidation stain spots. The barrel and magazine tube retain 90% original blue with a couple tiny dings and scattered fading to brown. The walnut stock rates very good plus retaining much of its factory varnish with a few dings and scattered handling marks. The rifle is sighted with a sporting style rear sight and a white bead Lyman front sight. The gun also features a steel shotgun buttplate and coupled double set triggers. A Cody research request form form is included stating that the gun shipped with a 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, shotgun buttplate, set triggers and a Lyman front sight. From the Ken Fry Collection. Mr. Fry researched previous owners and recorded the information on the Cody sheet, so this adds some value as prior ownership of these old guns is seldom known. The gun also features a correct sling eye stud mounted on the butt and another mounted on the nosecap but the research request form makes no mention of the sling hardware.
