Description:
#4945 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x44WCF, 146XXX range (1891), VG bore (7+) and action. The metal is extremely nice condition for a 126 year old revolver and it has almost no pitting or serious wear anywhere with the excetion of some slight pitting on the top strap. It retains a fully visable but thinning roll-die “CFSS” barrel logo and 80% coverage of a blue-greyish patina with 40% density. The cylinder and straps are slightly less and show more dulling of the blue from probable cleaning of the cylinder and excellent hard rubber Eagleless grips. The overall look on this 1891 S/A is far, FAR above what one usually sees for an old cowboy Colt ….but suffice to say this (…and this is a VERY important fact!!)…that since many, if not most Single Actions have been restored, enhanced, and/or “juiced-up” to some degree, one should always take the possibility of some degree of restoration into consideration. This gun has been valued and priced with that possibility in mind because if I were 100% certain that this gun was pure-as-the-driven-snow, it would easily be a $6,000+ gun. This is a good opportunity to own a really decent major piece of the most highly sought after Wild West frontier cartridge handgun …and one of the fastest value appreciators in the antique gun field. VG++ $3350
