Colt Camp Perry .22 caliber Prototype S/N 17. Colt made about 70 prototype Camp Perry single shot target pistols and sent them to some of the best competition target shooters at that time in order to get feedback on their new design. This pistol was sent to Cline & Cline Company who was a Colt dealer in Los Angeles, California. It may have been for someone on the highly competitive Los Angeles Police Department pistol team. These early guns differed from the standard Camp Perry pistols in the fact that they had the early deep dish medallion grips and the last patent date on the barrel was 1905 whereas the standard production Camp Perry’s had the later 1926 patent date. The early guns also lacked the Camp Perry name on the breech block as Colt did not start marking them with the name until about serial number 400. This rare gun is one of the few Camp Perry Prototypes to remain and would make an excellent addition to the best collections. The gun is in excellent mechanically condition with lots of finish remaining and the original fancy checkered walnut grips are in excellent condition without any flaws. A Colt factory letter is included with the gun. I offer a three day non firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped via FedEx Air with insurance to your FFL dealer in the continental United States for $55 (California is extra because I have to ship through my local dealer). This gun requires a C&R or FFL license for transfer. I ship the following day after the payment arrives and provide tracking information.
