General Specs: Fox, Year 1915, 16 Gauge, Weight, SxS Serial Number: 352086 Those upland bird hunters that love A.H. Fox double guns will recognize this Philly Fox Sterlingworth as a very special Fox. Most are aware that the Fox 16ga. guns are all built on the 20ga. frame, and that is a very desirable feature, much like the coveted Parker 16ga. on the “O” frame that everybody prefers (the “O” frame was designed by Parker for their 20ga. guns) for the upland pursuits. Research the Fox Sterlingworth 16ga. and you will find they generally weigh between 6 to 6 ¼ pounds. Anything under 6lbs. is a light Fox 16ga. This amazing Fox, sn352086 built in 1915, is THE LIGHTEST FOX STERLINGWORTH I HAVE EVER OWNED AT 5 1/2LBS. We all know it is not hard to find a decent Fox Sterlingworth 16ga. gun to buy, but this gun is a one-of-a-kind. In addition, it is an ejector gun, which is seldom seen, and it has lots of FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION, with 93% factory bone and charcoal case color, 98% factory barrel blue, perfect screws, excellent bores, and crisp mechanics. It is well balanced 1/8” ahead of the hinge pin with its 28” #4 weight barrels that are choked from the factory at IC/F, what I consider the best chokes for flushing birds in the prairies and even the woods when the leaves have fallen. Use an RST spreader load in the left barrel and you will be shooting the equivalent of IC/M for the early season and close-in stuff for versatility. The chambers have been lengthened to 2 ¾” with extended forcing cones for less recoil and better patterns. You can see in the photos there is a small chip repair to the stock on the upper right side of the head of the stock that is almost unnoticeable, but it is there. This is a quick handling graceful little Fox that would be a pleasure to carry on those long days afield marching over hill and dale trailing after your favorite bird dogs. You can search for decades and you will not find another like it. Any small-bore EJECTOR Fox is highly desirable, and when you have high factory condition and ultra-light weight in a 16ga. you have the perfect investment grade gun that will be a joy to use afield while it appreciates in value. Don’t let this one pass you by. Thanks for looking!
