Description:
We are offering for sale a 12 ga. Boxlock S/S Shotgun made by Hunter Arms Co. (L.C. Smith). This 1st style three screw receiver patent date 2/7/1911 was manufactured about 1914 according to the L.C. Collectors Assoc. the retailer is unknown, but though to be the Three Barreled Gun Company.
This shotgun has 30” barrels and 2 3/4” with chambers mod and full. The receiver is silver color with very faint traces of color case. The lever is right of center and like all Hunter Arms shotgun locks up like a “bank vault.” The barrel are fluid steel and the bores are bright and shiny show some light pits. Blueing is about 30%. It looks like someone has run some cold blue over the barrels and we have pictured this for you. Barrel thickness at the muzzles are .057 Left and .064 Right. This shows good solid barrels.
Stock length is 14 1/4 to the original Hunters Arms Butt plate showing the Springer Spaniel with bird butt plate. Drop is 1 1/4 wrist and 2 2/4” at the heel of the stock. Forearm and wrist have great checkering with no cracks or splits.
Overall this shotgun is in very good condition with good modern dimensions and usable with modern ammunition. This would make a very good field gun and should be taken out hunting! Please contact us with any questions you may have about our item.
