Description:
Springfield model 1842 69 Cal. musket in very good plus Cond. Lockplate marked Springfield 1848 with eagle over U.S. All metal is smooth and was cleaned at some point with a scatering of light pitting in places. Breech is marked N.J. with V, P. and eagle head. Original ramrod is verg good with great threaded tip. Butplate marked U.S. is cleaned but shows pitting. Bore is good plus. No tang date. All wood is near fine Cond. with a deep rich color. No cracks or chips and very few dings. Two cartouches are visible on left flat. This is a great looking musket that in this condition is found in the $1800 to $2200 range. Came from a large private collection.
