Here we have an Ithaca NID Model (New Ithaca Double as it was/is known) made in 1927, sn449800, in fully restored, near new condition. The Ithaca NID was this maker’s most respected offering, with super-fast lock times, rotary top bolt, coil springs, and a very strong action. In fact, only the Winchester Model 21 has a more robust action. Most Field Grade guns were made in prolific numbers. There are plenty of Ithaca NID 20-gauge guns offered for less money than this one. However, most Field Grade guns got hard use and are found with little finish remaining, and undesirable alterations like cut stocks, bad pads, cracks and repairs, pitted bores, buggered screws, pits, and heavy scratches, etc. Some figure they can restore these guns, but that costs thousands of dollars and takes over a year before you see your gun again. That is not the case with this fine Ithaca weighing in at 6lbs. 1oz. with its 28” LM/F barrels, modern stock dimensions, mirror bores, excellent screws, and 99% finishes on metal and wood, as it has been fully and correctly restored to new. No waiting, no heavy expense…just a gorgeous gun ready to hunt upland birds or break targets at your favorite gun club or back forty. An affordable vintage American double in the very popular 20ga., it will always be a desirable field gun, gaining value as you enjoy its use. The most sought after of all the Ithacas, the NID model is known to be very strong and reliable in its design.
