Description:
One of the nicest and most completely decorated side by sides that I have in my collection. I have reached a point where I need to reduce the size of the collection and I'm offering some exceptional examples of German gunmaking for sale.
This Schuler 16 ga was proofed in 1941 and has a scalloped boxlock action with well executed game scene and oak leaf engraving and oak leaf carving on the nicely figured buttstock and foreend. The LOP is 14 1/2" over the Old English recoil pad. The action features game scenes on both sides - ducks on one side and pheasant on the other, a horn trigger guard, tang safety and double triggers.
The Krupp steel barrels are 27 1/2" with excellent bores and extractors and features an ivory front bead. The barrel's double underlugs lock into the action and the rib extension locks with a Greener style crossbolt also sideclips for added strength. The gun locks up very tight. Both barrels are choked extra Full.
The overall condition of the gun is just exceptional. At 6 lb, 2 oz it has a very nice feel and balances quite well. Truly a testament to the superior gun making skills of the gunmaker August Schuler.
