Description:
****************************************Rifle is Sold Pending Funds*************************************

Up for sale a pre-war German K98 bolt mismatch rifle.  Rifle receiver is marked S/27 1937 so manufactured by Erma-Werke in 1937.  Erma only manufactured K98’s to 1940 and never achieved the same numbers as Mauser or JP Sauer making the date and code one of the less common encountered among K98’s.  Rifle has honest wear overall with bluing thinning on the bands and floorplate (common areas for wear), walnut stock has probably seen the rougher handling but no cracks or serious issues, just dings and s, I’ve tried to capture the areas of roughness in the pictures.  There is a dark spot on one of the stock cheeks, that is something in the wood like a knot spot, not something external on the wood.  Bolt is from an early Sauer but is not 100% matching, the bolt body and shroud match as early Sauer (e/214 and e/37 proofs), the safety and cocking piece are not matching to each other or the bolt body\shroud.  Stock and handguard are both numbered internally and there looks to be some kind of proof stamped in the channel (see pic), the exterior of the stock has the Erma style Eagle\H on the cheek, e\280 proofed takedown disc and matching numbered and proofed buttplate.  It does not have the number on the keel or the second inspection proof on the cheek.   From the look of it with the early style “Erma” eagle present it’s either a very early Erma Armorer stock or Erma was known for light strikes with their proofs and numbering on the stocks early on and they may have simply worn off.  Rifle is not Duffel cut.  Bandspring is e/37 proofed and numbered but not matching to the rifle.   Locking screws on the triggerguard are properly e/280 proofed as is the follower spring.  Front site has NOT been cut for a hood.  Bore is very good, no pitting.

Erma manufactured rifles are some of the hardest to come by for K98 collectors, matching examples easily bring several thousand dollars.  This is a very nice original condition placeholder for a collection or excellent opportunity for a new collector to get a pre-war gun.  If you have any questions or need additional pictures just let me know.

Rifle includes a 3 day non-firing inspection period
Rifle must ship to an FFL or FFL C&R
Shipping for the lower 48 is $40, Alaska\Hawaii are at cost
