This Winchester Model 1873 Deluxe is a beauty. It appears to be an old Winchester factory refinish in excellent condition. This example is serial number 192640A and was built in 1885. It is a Deluxe model featuring a half octagon / half round barrel, a checkered deluxe wood stock set with a pistol grip with ebony inlay, and a tang mounted peep sight. It is chambered in the .38 WCF cartridge, otherwise known as 38-40 caliber. We believe this gun to be a factory refinish due to the quality of the work and the presence of the oval "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver. These proofs were not factory applied to guns made before 1905, and with this '73 being manufactured in 1885 these proofs indicate that this rifle was sent back to Winchester after 1905 to be repaired/refinished. As you can see in the pictures, the factory refinished blue looks great. It shows only minor wear and handling marks and has apparently been well-cared for. The bore in this 1873 Deluxe is in great shape overall. The rifling is still very strong with prominent lands and grooves. There is some very minor frosting/pitting but the bore still looks bright. The 24.25" inch barrel has a factory Lyman front sight blade with an ivory insert and buckhorn rear sight with an elevator. There is also a tang mounted Lyman adjustable peep sight installed on this rifle in perfect working order. The factory original Deluxe Walnut stock set is spectacular. The forearm and butt stock match perfectly and show lots of beautiful grain and contrast. The checkered panels still show up nicely, and have just a little handing wear. The pistol grip has an ornately carved factory ebony inlay in the bottom of the grip which is expertly fit. The original crescent buttplate is in good shape as well, and is still nice and tight to the stock and has a functioning trap. Everything on this Winchester '73 Deluxe works 100% like the day it left the factory. This rifle comes with an original Winchester/Cody Museum letter as well (pictured). If you have been looking for a spectacular looking 1873 Model to add to your collection and to display in your home, this Deluxe model would be a perfect choice.
