Description:
A very nice Remington with Military History.  This model 14 & 1/2 was one of 4,000 that were sent to the UK just prior to WWI when the Brits realized they had no guns to defend the homeland, and the good old "Gun Toting" Americans came to the rescue.  This is the 4th or 5th Home Guard gun we have had in 50 years of doing business.  The British were very correct with this program and most all of the guns donated by private citizens and companies  from the USA were eventually returned after the war.  This particular speciman has the British proof on the barrel indiating its history, and the basic condition of the rifle is very good to excellent condition overall, with nice original bore and chamber, great wood with no cracks or problems and original wood finish.  Bore is very good to excellent, bright and shiny.  Rear sight has been  replaced with a later Remington sight as originally it had the sight with the wheel for elevation and this one has the elevator for elevation.  The barrel is originally with the correct dovetail for either sight, however, and this from the factory.  All in all this is a very rare rifle and even without the Military history is quite desireable for any Remington collector.
