WWI-Era MOUSE GUN Rheinmetall Dreyse 1907 Pistol
Designed by Louis Schmeisser in .25 ACP
Here we present a Dreyse Model 1907 Vest Pocket Pistol, made circa 1914 by Rheinische Metallwaaren & Maschinenfabrik in Sömmerda, Thuringia, Germany. Production was relatively short, being from about 1907 to about the end of WWI. This little pocket pistol was designed by the prolific German inventor Louis Schmeisser. It was very close in size to the 1906 Browning and was made to stow in a pocket for early-20th Century self-defense.
This pistol is marked “DREYSE” on the left side of the slide. The grips are marked with the “RMF” monogram. It is marked “GERMANY” on the top. “Crown/N” proof marks are located on the frame, slide and barrel assembly. There is a safety lever on the left side of the frame and, unlike the Browning design, there is no grip safety.
Overall condition is excellent. The original blue finish is virtually complete. The markings are clear. The grips are fine. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a very attractive and high condition WWI-era vest pistol!
