"WASH CITY POLICE" Marked, Engraved H&A Revolver
Interesting Early 20th Century Hopkins & Allen
Here we present a very interesting engraved, “WASH CITY POLICE” marked Hopkins & Allen Top Break Revolver, made circa 1906 in Norwich, Connecticut. This revolver is chambered for 5 shots of .32 S&W. It is relatively light and petite with an oversized wooden grip that makes this revolver quite comfortable. The barrel, frame and cylinder bear about 60% coverage of scroll engraving. The other interesting mark is the hand-stamped “WASH CITY POLICE” marking on the top strap of the revolver. This is an interesting combination, especially as these days law enforcement typically carry firearms that are purely utilitarian and “no frills”. The barrel address reads “THE HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS CO./NORWICH. CONN USA PAT’D AUG 21 1906”.
The overall condition is fine. The engravings and markings are clear. The case colors on the hammer and trigger are still vibrant. The original grip is in very good shape with a few handling marks. The bore is sharp and clear. The action is strong. Here is a fascinating revolver.
