Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This rifle started life as a 1942 WW2 production K98 made by the Waffenwerke Brunn firm in Czechoslovakia in 8mm Mauser for the German army. Likely captured as a war trophy and brought back to the United States after the war ended, it was then "sporterized" into a 8mm Mauser custom hunting/target rifle. This rifle has some really neat features and was built by a gunsmith with some skill rather than a "shade tree" tinkerer. The military stock and iron sights on the barrel were stripped from the rifle and all of the metal parts were polished and reblued with a high-gloss commercial style blue. The bolt was altered by removing the bolt handle and replacing it with a sporting profiled handle with checkering, and the military bolt shroud with a 3-position safety was scrapped in favor of a smooth FN style shroud. The bolt was also polished and reblued with a matching high gloss blue. The safety was moved to the side of the receiver and changed to a 2 position model mounted on the custom trigger housing. The barrel was then fitted with a barrel band style front sight with a ramp and blade, and the rear sight was replaced with a CZ sourced elevation-adjustable ladder sight. The original military trigger was replaced with a Bold brand adjustable trigger with aforementioned factory-fit safety. The reciever was fitted with a pre-WW2 "long side rail" optics mount fastened with 3 screws torqued to the left side of the receiver and secured with locking screws. The custom rifle was then fit and bedded into a checkered Walnut Monte Carlo stock complete with an ebony tip, ebony pistol grip cap, and unique brass sling mounts. This vintage sporter was then topped with a 1930's vintage Oigee Berlin Luxor 6 power scope. It features adjustable focus and a pointed post with horizontal side bars "sniper" type reticle. As you can see in the pictures everything is in very good condition and is a very attractive package. Everything on the rifle works 100% as it was designed to. The bore is in excellent condition. There is no pitting or erosion and the rifling still has sharp lands and grooves. The bolt action is smooth and locks up tight. The trigger is exceptional and breaks cleanly. The stock is in excellent condition and is free from cracks or repairs. It has a lot of nice contrasting grain showing and the modern Limbsaver recoil pad has been nicely fit to the butt. The length of pull is a hair under 14" inches to the end of the pad. The Oigee Berlin scope has bright and clear optics and the adjustments all work properly. The crosshairs have just a tiny bit of "fuzz" on the right side horizontal bar near the outside of the sight picture, but the scope holds perfect zero. If you have been looking for a one-of-a-kind custom rifle, this vintage 8mm Mauser K98 sporter would be a perfect choice.
