Description:
This is an extremely nice World War 2 production M44 Mosin Nagant Carbine. This Izhevsk manufactured example was made in 1944, after production began in earnest at Izhevsk earlier in late 1943. This M44 Carbine is all matching with the stamped serial number(AH348) on the barrel, bolt, buttplate, and the magazine floorplate. The original factory blue finish is in excellent condition with only some minor handling marks visible under close inspection. The import stamp from C.A.I. is electropenciled in a small font on the left front side of the receiver. The bolt which was left "in the white" from the factory is still clean and bright without any staining, rust, or pitting. The bolt face looks prisitne and does not show any wear or erosion. The bore in this rifle is very good. The rifling looks great with sharp lands and grooves, but like all Russian rifles from this time period does not appear bright or polished. The original stock is in excellent shape and is a solid hardwood version. The right side of the buttstock has a rebuild stamp on it (box with diagonal line thru it) but it appears that this carbine needed very little work. The laquer finish is in excellent shape and shows 98% plus coverage. The serial numbered buttplate is fit nicely, tight to the stock, and the upper two barrel bands are nice and snug on the forearm portion of the stock. The folding bayonet is also in excellent shape on this M44, and locks into both the extended and folded positions without any slop. If you have been looking for a M44 Mosin Nagant Carbine for your military or WW2 collection that is super clean and matching, this one would be hard to top.
